Efstratios Livanis is Assistant Professor on Neural Systems with emphasis in financial statements at the Department of Accounting and Finance at the University of Macedonia. He obtained his Bachelor degree in Accounting and Finance at the Department of Accounting and Finance of the University of Macedonia, where he was awarded a state scholarship for his excellent academic performance. Also, he received PhD from the Department of Applied Informatics at the University of Macedonia. He also hold MSc in Bioethics of Medical School at Democritus University of Thrace. Moreover, he is member of the alumni network of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Bioethics Academy.

He has taught extensively BSc, MSc and MBA classes, at the University of Macedonia (2010 – today) while he has also been Adjunct Faculty for the Hellenic Open University (2015 – 2023) and Open University of Cyprus (2012 – 2015). Furthermore, he serves as an external teacher in the MSc in Bioethics program at the Medical School of Democritus University of Thrace. He also served as deputy academic advisor for the research project with title “Looking for motivations for a successful second and third chance to start a business after bankruptcy (beyond second chance) in periods of economic recession”, ESPA 2014-2020, “Human Resource Development, Education and Lifelong Learning 2014-2020”, co-financed by the European Social Fund (ESF) and national resources, through the Ministry of Education, Research and Religious Affairs, 20/11/2019 – 19/9/2021.

His work has been presented in various academic conferences and has been published in peer reviewed academic journals (The European Journal of Finance, Computational Economics etc.). He is editor of three books on the subjects of financial analysis, financial derivatives and financial modeling. His research interests include neural networks and financial statement analysis, bioethics, neuroethics, neurofinance, ethics of Artificial Intelligence, and financial management of cyber risks.
